The County Treasurer serves as the Chief Custodian of County Funds in accordance with the Texas Constitution, Article XVI, Section 44, and the Texas Local Government Code.
The County Treasurer is responsible for the receipt, safekeeping, disbursement, and investment of county funds, administration of the county depository contract and banking services, preparation of required federal and state financial reports, and management of county investments in accordance with the Texas Public Funds Investment Act.
The County Treasurer works closely with the Commissioners Court, County Auditor, county departments, and the public to ensure the responsible stewardship of public funds while maintaining the financial checks and balances required by Texas law.
